I am passionate about Mathematics because I did not enjoy learning math for most of my school years. Like many students, I was calculator dependent, I didn't understand fractions and I found math class boring.
I was fortunate to have an excellent high school Physics teacher who showed me how math connected to the real world and sparked my interest in pursuing science and Mathematics in college. After passing Calculus 2 (still overly relying on my graphing calculator), I decided to become a Math major and I challenged myself to see how far I could go before the math got too hard.
Around the same time, I got a job at a Math Learning franchise near campus. This job made me aware of the gaps in my own education and taught me how to help Adults & Teens become literate and confident in math.

I was very fortunate my senior year of high school to have a fantastic teacher who showed me how the math I had learned connected to the real world. By the time I was a junior in college, my feelings towards math had changed dramatically and I was able to re-learn all the foundation skills I had been missing. I went on to complete a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Mathematics. I found a great love for the subject and for helping others. Now I work with my students to change their mindset about math!
